The Stalker
A perfect knife for deer stalking
This wonderfully designed handmade stalking knife is known as the ‘The Stalker’. This lightweight and compact knife is a joint design project with Andy Keane of Premier Deer Stalking UK.
Andy Keane had specific requests for the design of the knife to suit his needs. He extensively field-tested this design over a 12 month period and we are both really pleased with the results.
Blade length 100mm
The Stalker knife comes as standard with a 100mm blade length (230mm overall length). The stalking knife has a full grind blade, with a secondary bevel.
The grind is left with a natural finish and the rest of the knife, including the handle has a very fine sandblasted finish which gives the scales a grippy texture.
The scales are Orange G10 with a thick black liner and it comes with a Kydex sheath.
What is a stalking knife?
The terms ‘hunting knife’ and ‘stalking knife’ are often used interchangeably and can vary depending on the context. However, there are some subtle differences that can be associated with these terms. The distinction between the two terms may vary depending on individual preferences and the specific hunting techniques employed.
A stalking knife refers to a specific type of hunting knife that is particularly suited for Deer stalking.
Deer Stalking involves moving quietly and carefully through the terrain to get close to the game without being detected. A stalking knife is designed to be lightweight, compact, and easy to carry, as it needs to be convenient for the hunter to access easily.
In essence, while hunting knives can be used in various hunting situations, a stalking knife is typically associated with a specific style of hunting that requires the game to be processed in the field, so knives that retain a good edge are essential.
These knives can come in a multitude of lengths and width of blade, but they all have to retain a shape that allows for the animals to be partly processed in the field, this usually referred to as gralloching. You will see all my stalking knives have a defined finger-stop to allow for controlled handling while working inside the cavity.
